Antique porcelain and antique pottery for viewing.
Antique ceramics.
You can read about ceramics in Antiquipedia along with short biographies of all the ceramics designers and factories represented on this site
Keith Murray worked for the Wedgwood factory for two months a year in the 1930's producing modern designs in wonderful semi-matt coloured glazes developed by Norman Wilson. These pieces have stood the test of time well and are now very sought after by lovers of Art Deco Ceramics
Art Deco ceramics dating from the 1920s and 1930s are very collectable today. Manufacturers such as Carlton Ware and Burleigh often produced patterns and styles that reflected on trends of the time. Sports of Golf, Tennis and country persuits were depicted along with subjects such as Egyptology. We have a lovely dish by Carlton depicting Tutenkhamun, for it was in the 1920s that the great Egyptian finds were being made.
We are constantly adding to our stock of antique china and the list of ceramics factories now includes some lovely Mabel Lucie Attwell nursery items and figures for the Shelley factory, delightful chintz tea sets from James Kent. Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper are always favourites, along with more modern items from the Troika pottery and some wonderful Moorcroft pottery
There are a number of pieces of ceramics by signed artists which include Charlotte Rhead, James Kent, Keith Murray, Frederick Rhead and Edna Best as well as the better known Clarise Cliff and Suzie Cooper
