How to add your items to the website:
(A step by step guide)
1. Take your photographs.
2. Compile your descriptions.
3. Email us your images and descriptions…
We’ll take care of everything else.
1. Taking effective photographs
There is space for up to 4 images (pictures) for each item for sale on the website.
We suggest you take one image of the whole item and submit further images of any important features, signatures, maker’s marks or different aspects of the item.
Using a plain, neutral coloured background gives best results.
If you use a standard film camera, have the film developed and recorded on a CD in Jpeg format.
Before you send us digital images please check them for sharpness. (To do this and for further tips on digital photography please scroll to the end of this page)
2. Compiling your descriptions of items - please include details of:
Condition, age, date, origin and any restoration
Size / dimensions
Price or POA
Clear, concise and honest descriptions are beneficial to sales and maintain both your credibility and that of the website.
Indicate the main category and sub category in which you would like each item to appear. (e.g. Category: Glass, sub category: Decanters)
3. Sending images and descriptions:
To avoid errors, send an individual email with a description for each item with images as attachments to images@antiquecentreworldwide.com.
On receipt of your images and descriptions, one of our team will add your items to the website and inform you by email.
You will receive a list of your submitted items with corresponding reference numbers, together with your membership receipt and start-up date.
4. Customer enquiries, sales and support:
All direct enquiries will be forwarded to you by email or phone. Locating Service enquiries are sent to all our dealers by email. Please respond to buyers emails as soon as possible.
You will always deal directly with the client.
When you proceed to a sale you can arrange for payment and delivery yourself or use our Barclaycard Business online payment service.
We can put you in touch with recommended shippers who can collect and deliver door to door.
Please notify us of any sold items (whether through the website or otherwise), so that we can keep the site updated and avoid disappointing prospective buyers.
A member of our team is available by phone during office hours and will be pleased to answer any questions you have. Call us on 01442 213325 or Email info@antiquecentreworldwide.com at any time and we will get back to you as soon as possible
5. Extra tips for digital photography:
Blurred or poor quality images will not enhance sales! So please check before you send images.
Check for sharpness of images by using the magnifying facility on the camera’s review mode
Pictures may be blurred because:
a) The camera moved – try using a tripod
b) ‘Macro mode’ was not used. ( Macro mode is used for close-ups and is usually employed by pressing the ‘flower’ icon on the camera.)
c) You were too close.
Take shots with and without flash to see which gives best results, sometimes flash can create too much reflection off shiny surfaces.
FAQS(Frequently Asked Questions)
Are Antiques compatible with the internet? Our market research shows that many of our buyers use this site to locate items they are looking for and then contact the dealer to see them ‘for real’. However for any items that are bought directly from the website we recommend you offer a full refund policy.
I’ve already got my own website, so why should I join?
Antique Centre Worldwide has a Google campaign that guarantees high placing in search engines. The link we provide to your own website ensures you will benefit too.
We don’t have a website, should we join?
This website actually offers you more exposure than the majority of websites built for individual antique dealers. Antique Centre Worldwide advertises extensively in magazines and publications as well as on the internet. You therefore have all the benefits of a top site with none of the hassle. As long as you have email access you will benefit from all our services.
We don’t have email access, can we still join?
For dealers who do not have email access we would recommend an entry in the directory (£55 set up & £20 per month)
